Narrative:
Level at FL280, 40 NM east of dbq VOR, at approximately XA40Z, fire detector loop light illuminated with associated #1 engine loop 'B' light. Completed 'fire detector loop light without fire warning' procedure, which required that the 'engine fire/damage/separation' procedure be accomplished. Declared emergency and received ATC handling to dbq airport. Landed with both fire bottles used and #1 engine fire handle illuminated. Awaiting airport rescue fire personnel did not detect any engine fire or smoke emanating from aircraft on the ground. First officer, cabin crew, ATC and ground personnel performed duties in a thorough and professional manner. Supplemental information from acn 422348: fire warning light for left engine illuminated in cockpit. Approximately 10-15 mins after takeoff, captain told us we'd divert to dubuque, ia, evacuate/evacuation might be necessary, fire trucks are standing by. We prepared the cabin for landing and landed in dbq without incident. No fire visible, passenger exited through aft stairs via tailcone exit.
