Narrative:
We were assigned 6000 ft. We put 6000 ft in the altitude alerter and the flight director did not capture the altitude and the captain followed the flight director to 6700 ft before he realized the deviation. I was distracted running checklists and normal EMB120 first officer duties (it's an extremely busy seat).

Title: AN EMB120 FLC OVERSHOT THEIR ASSIGNED ALT IN CLB WHEN THE CAPT'S FLT DIRECTOR FAILS TO INDICATE AN ALT CAPTURE FOR LEVELOFF.
Narrative: WE WERE ASSIGNED 6000 FT. WE PUT 6000 FT IN THE ALT ALERTER AND THE FLT DIRECTOR DID NOT CAPTURE THE ALT AND THE CAPT FOLLOWED THE FLT DIRECTOR TO 6700 FT BEFORE HE REALIZED THE DEV. I WAS DISTRACTED RUNNING CHKLISTS AND NORMAL EMB120 FO DUTIES (IT'S AN EXTREMELY BUSY SEAT).
