Narrative:

A C172 was wrecked on sep/xa/98 by a renter pilot at the morehead airport. As the owner of the aircraft I went to morehead to recover the aircraft. After examining the aircraft and installing the main gear, it was in the general opinion of 2 a&P mechanics that the aircraft was flyable with an FAA issued ferry permit. After we got the aircraft back to mount sterling and we started the repairs, we did find structural damage on the aircraft. If I had known there was structural damage I would not have flown the aircraft from morehead, ky, to mount sterling, ky, and I would not have asked for a ferry permit.
