Narrative:
I was the first officer on an air carrier flight. We were delayed due to a mechanical problem that kept creeping due to wrong parts. After maintenance told the passenger we were going, they found something else wrong. They did this before they canceled the flight. So crew scheduling told us to ferry the airplane to sfo for major service. We were ready to go when the captain found that the APU burned almost 6000 pounds of fuel from #2 tank. He tried to xfer fuel to no avail. I told him that I was uncomfortable going. He got very angry and told me to 'get the XXXX off my airplane.' so I got off. The fuel was imbal'ed by 5700 pounds -- the limit is 6000 pounds. I was not sure it was safe, so I left. All would have been ok if he had balance'ed the gas. The serious problem occurred as I was leaving the airplane. The captain took 3 bottles of wine from the galley. I did not see him drinking, but his anger toward me was beyond what a normal person would do. Any other person would have balance'ed the gas. When we got home to base, our 'professional standards' people met us to investigate the situation. They are helping the captain now.

Title: FO OF A B747-400 LEFT HIS FO DUTY STATION AND DEPLANED AT THE GATE DURING PREFLT WHEN THE CAPT ASKED HIM TO LEAVE SINCE HE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ACFT'S FUEL IMBAL. HE BELIEVED THAT THE CAPT'S ATTITUDE WAS AFFECTED BY PREVIOUS DRINKING OF ALCOHOL.
