Narrative:
We were told to enter holding by ZTL over robinsville VOR as published at 9000 ft. The first officer was at the controls. TCASII was activated. 3 mi from the fix, we got a TCASII RA telling us to climb immediately. A small, 4 seat GA piston- driven airplane was coming at us from ahead and right. We added power and climbed to 9400 ft. We got the airplane in sight about 500 ft below us and 2000 ft to the right. We informed ATC of the conflict and descended from 9400 ft back to our assigned altitude of 9000 ft.
