Narrative:
At a distance of 5 NM southeast of eyw, contact was made with eyw control tower. We were instructed to enter a right downwind for runway 9. On the right base to final turn we saw a mid-size propeller aircraft at our 11 O'clock low position. No particular evasive action was required at this time since the traffic was no longer a factor. We received further sequencing from the tower and landed safely. Contributing factors: 1) eyw tower informed us that they had instructed us to report on the right downwind abeam the tower but we do not recall hearing the instruction. 2) since no particular traffic was called out to us we were not looking for traffic at any particular position. We failed to spot traffic that might have been camouflaged partly by a densely populated area located west of the runway.

Title: LIGHT ACFT PLT HAS NMAC WITH OTHER TFC IN PATTERN LNDG AT EYW.
Narrative: AT A DISTANCE OF 5 NM SE OF EYW, CONTACT WAS MADE WITH EYW CTL TWR. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO ENTER A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 9. ON THE R BASE TO FINAL TURN WE SAW A MID-SIZE PROP ACFT AT OUR 11 O'CLOCK LOW POS. NO PARTICULAR EVASIVE ACTION WAS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME SINCE THE TFC WAS NO LONGER A FACTOR. WE RECEIVED FURTHER SEQUENCING FROM THE TWR AND LANDED SAFELY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) EYW TWR INFORMED US THAT THEY HAD INSTRUCTED US TO RPT ON THE R DOWNWIND ABEAM THE TWR BUT WE DO NOT RECALL HEARING THE INSTRUCTION. 2) SINCE NO PARTICULAR TFC WAS CALLED OUT TO US WE WERE NOT LOOKING FOR TFC AT ANY PARTICULAR POS. WE FAILED TO SPOT TFC THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAMOUFLAGED PARTLY BY A DENSELY POPULATED AREA LOCATED W OF THE RWY.
