Narrative:
At FL310, 75 NM west of mci, our #1 engine oil pressure dropped to 20 psi (caution range) and oil quantity read zero. We performed the low pressure checklist and notified ATC. As soon as our low oil pressure light came on (5 mins after low oil pressure indication), we ran that checklist which calls for engine shutdown. We declared an emergency and requested direct mci. We were cleared to FL240, then to 12000 ft, then approach took over. Our workload was quite high as we coordinated with center, operations, and flight attendants plus running the emergency checklists in a very short time span. Winds at mci were 320 degrees at 14 KTS gusting to 19 KTS, landing runway 1L. Braking action report was fair to poor until on final at which time another air carrier reported good braking. We had requested emergency equipment stand by. Landing was uneventful and we had trucks follow us to gate where we terminated the emergency. All controllers involved were very helpful throughout this emergency. There were no injuries.

Title: ACR FLC SHUT DOWN ENG DUE TO LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE IN ZKC AIRSPACE.
Narrative: AT FL310, 75 NM W OF MCI, OUR #1 ENG OIL PRESSURE DROPPED TO 20 PSI (CAUTION RANGE) AND OIL QUANTITY READ ZERO. WE PERFORMED THE LOW PRESSURE CHKLIST AND NOTIFIED ATC. AS SOON AS OUR LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON (5 MINS AFTER LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATION), WE RAN THAT CHKLIST WHICH CALLS FOR ENG SHUTDOWN. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND REQUESTED DIRECT MCI. WE WERE CLRED TO FL240, THEN TO 12000 FT, THEN APCH TOOK OVER. OUR WORKLOAD WAS QUITE HIGH AS WE COORDINATED WITH CTR, OPS, AND FLT ATTENDANTS PLUS RUNNING THE EMER CHKLISTS IN A VERY SHORT TIME SPAN. WINDS AT MCI WERE 320 DEGS AT 14 KTS GUSTING TO 19 KTS, LNDG RWY 1L. BRAKING ACTION RPT WAS FAIR TO POOR UNTIL ON FINAL AT WHICH TIME ANOTHER ACR RPTED GOOD BRAKING. WE HAD REQUESTED EMER EQUIP STAND BY. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE HAD TRUCKS FOLLOW US TO GATE WHERE WE TERMINATED THE EMER. ALL CTLRS INVOLVED WERE VERY HELPFUL THROUGHOUT THIS EMER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.
