Narrative:

Ground control gave us clearance to push back to spot xa after an air carrier aircraft passed behind us. Told ground crew we were 'ready for pushback' and 'cleared to push in reference to an air carrier aircraft passing behind us.' within seconds, the tug moved forward with the aircraft brakes set. The nose gear warning came on and the nose gear was damaged. All passenger were deplaned.

Title: AN MD80 INCURRED NOSE GEAR DAMAGE ON PUSHBACK DUE NON STANDARD COCKPIT TO TUG COM.

Narrative: GND CTL GAVE US CLRNC TO PUSH BACK TO SPOT XA AFTER AN ACR ACFT PASSED BEHIND US. TOLD GND CREW WE WERE 'READY FOR PUSHBACK' AND 'CLRED TO PUSH IN REF TO AN ACR ACFT PASSING BEHIND US.' WITHIN SECONDS, THE TUG MOVED FORWARD WITH THE ACFT BRAKES SET. THE NOSE GEAR WARNING CAME ON AND THE NOSE GEAR WAS DAMAGED. ALL PAX WERE DEPLANED.
