Narrative:
On left downwind for runway 13L at dal, approach cleared us to remain above 3000 ft till on final. We began our turn to base and approach pointed out traffic to runway 13R. We were high and tight, so we began our descent out of 3000 ft on base. At 2700 ft, approach asked if we had copied his clearance to remain at 3000 ft till on final. I responded yes, but thought the restr was for noise abatement and we started down with engines at idle. Approach informed the restr is for possible traffic off of addison field. He stated there was no conflict. I talked to approach on the phone after landing and he said there was no conflict. I think the note on approach chart page should be changed to read assignment to remain at 3000 ft till final by approach control is due to possible traffic conflict with addison field. Supplemental information from acn 425380: this was third leg into dal that day, and the 2 previous legs we were cleared for visual approachs to runway 13L but were cleared to descend out of 3000 ft on the base leg. That was what I thought the clearance was 'maintain 3000 ft until base leg' and thus started my descent on base leg instead of until final. Regardless of past procedures for the day's flying, each approach has its own specific clearance.

Title: ACR FK10 FLC DEVIATES FROM CLRNC, DSNDING ACROSS OTHER PROTECTED AIRSPACE OF AN ADJOINING CTL ZONE.
Narrative: ON L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 13L AT DAL, APCH CLRED US TO REMAIN ABOVE 3000 FT TILL ON FINAL. WE BEGAN OUR TURN TO BASE AND APCH POINTED OUT TFC TO RWY 13R. WE WERE HIGH AND TIGHT, SO WE BEGAN OUR DSCNT OUT OF 3000 FT ON BASE. AT 2700 FT, APCH ASKED IF WE HAD COPIED HIS CLRNC TO REMAIN AT 3000 FT TILL ON FINAL. I RESPONDED YES, BUT THOUGHT THE RESTR WAS FOR NOISE ABATEMENT AND WE STARTED DOWN WITH ENGS AT IDLE. APCH INFORMED THE RESTR IS FOR POSSIBLE TFC OFF OF ADDISON FIELD. HE STATED THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. I TALKED TO APCH ON THE PHONE AFTER LNDG AND HE SAID THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. I THINK THE NOTE ON APCH CHART PAGE SHOULD BE CHANGED TO READ ASSIGNMENT TO REMAIN AT 3000 FT TILL FINAL BY APCH CTL IS DUE TO POSSIBLE TFC CONFLICT WITH ADDISON FIELD. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 425380: THIS WAS THIRD LEG INTO DAL THAT DAY, AND THE 2 PREVIOUS LEGS WE WERE CLRED FOR VISUAL APCHS TO RWY 13L BUT WERE CLRED TO DSND OUT OF 3000 FT ON THE BASE LEG. THAT WAS WHAT I THOUGHT THE CLRNC WAS 'MAINTAIN 3000 FT UNTIL BASE LEG' AND THUS STARTED MY DSCNT ON BASE LEG INSTEAD OF UNTIL FINAL. REGARDLESS OF PAST PROCS FOR THE DAY'S FLYING, EACH APCH HAS ITS OWN SPECIFIC CLRNC.
