Narrative:
After nose gear repack, aircraft returned to service on flight from ZZZ-XXX. Aircraft maintenance log discrepancy page xyz unable to raise gear after takeoff. Used gear handle release button, but nose gear red light stayed on. Aircraft was ferried from XXX-ZZZ with gear down and pinned. Maintenance action was disassembled nose gear strut, reindexed center cams and repacked and svced strut in accordance with DC10-10 maintenance manual. On the strut repack, there were 4 mechanics and myself. The strut was repacked and one of the other mechanics installed the upper ctring cam and was indexed 90 degrees off. The strut was installed and svced, which is all the maintenance manual calls for, and I signed off the item. Nowhere in the maintenance manual does it call for a check of ctring cams check after a repack. Also, there is no index markings on the upper center cam, with 4 keys installed at 90 degree intervals, no reference on the correct installing of cam.
