Narrative:
This flight was a direct route from lakeway airpark near austin, tx, to hondo municipal airport, a distance of about 90 mi. After topping off fuel and other usual preparations, we took off at XA15 and climbed to 4500 ft on course. About 35 mins later, the engine suddenly sputtered. I applied carburetor heat, but RPM kept deteriorating until all power was lost. The engine windmilled but would not restart. I called bulverde airport on unicom -- no answer. I broadcast on 121.5 -- no response. Approximately 5 mi to my right was the military auxiliary field at camp bullis, tx. We glided to this military field and landed on the runway there. The aircraft was not damaged and neither me nor my wife (passenger) were injured. This was a rented aircraft. We left our point of departure with full fuel tanks (gas slip available). Engine instruments were normal (good oil pressure) when the engine quit. I did not hear any clanking or roughness when the engine quit as is sometimes associated with an internal failure. At this time I do not know the cause of the engine failure. I did not land at the bulverde airport because it was 8-10 mi to my left. Camp bullis was much closer and obviously the correct choice.

Title: PLT OF C150 EXPERIENCES ENG FAILURE NEAR AUSTIN.
Narrative: THIS FLT WAS A DIRECT RTE FROM LAKEWAY AIRPARK NEAR AUSTIN, TX, TO HONDO MUNICIPAL ARPT, A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 90 MI. AFTER TOPPING OFF FUEL AND OTHER USUAL PREPARATIONS, WE TOOK OFF AT XA15 AND CLBED TO 4500 FT ON COURSE. ABOUT 35 MINS LATER, THE ENG SUDDENLY SPUTTERED.
