Reference PIREP -- repeat of alternate longitudinal trim problems (with) or without autoplt on. Autoplt trim was on MEL and verified that alternate longitudinal trim was working properly on ground. I signed off item with a reference to MEL, not realizing that the crew that produced the item had a problem with the alternate longitudinal trim with autoplt off.
