Narrative:
Location: on the west end of taxiway east atl. After landing at atl, we were instructed to taxi wbound on taxiway east to ramp. Approaching the turn for ramp, I had to stop the aircraft suddenly to avoid an aircraft Y exiting on the last high speed taxiway from runway 26L. I brought the aircraft to a stop. Aircraft Y continued to ramp and I followed. After arrival at the gate, I learned that flight attendant had been in the galley and had hit her elbow and shoulder during the stop. She reported to me that her elbow was tingling and sore. In the morning (feb/xa/99) she called my room and informed me that her elbow was bruised and her shoulder was sore. We questioned the atl ground controller about the aircraft and he said they were being controled by the local controller and he did not know what aircraft Y had been told. After we entered ramp we had to maneuver around the same aircraft Y jet as he was waiting for a gate and blocking the way to our gate.

WE QUESTIONED THE ATL GND CTLR ABOUT THE ACFT AND HE SAID THEY WERE BEING CTLED BY THE LCL CTLR AND HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT ACFT Y HAD BEEN TOLD. AFTER WE ENTERED RAMP WE HAD TO MANEUVER AROUND THE SAME ACFT Y JET AS HE WAS WAITING FOR A GATE AND BLOCKING THE WAY TO OUR GATE.
