Narrative:
Upon checking WX, both tjn and pou showed still good VFR. I started my return trip home to pou. Planned en route altitude was 1500 ft to start and lowering to 900 ft for return up the hudson river to avoid TCA. Just north of tappan zee bridge, I encountered snow showers with reduced visibility approximately 1 mi at 500 ft. I felt it was best to maintain my visual reference to ground and continued north to pou. Upon arriving at the newburgh beacon bridge, I called dutchess tower for a SVFR and vectors if possible. They couldn't provide either. Visibility at pou 3/4 mi. Dutchess tower suggested I call new york approach. New york approach provided vectors and a landing clearance with the tower. Approach and landing was uneventful as I had good ground contact visually. I can't say enough good things about new york approach. They were quick and super accurate. From all the safety corner readings what I remember most is when in trouble -- confess and ask for help. I did and approach was there.
