Narrative:
The mli to ord trip was our last leg of a multi-day trip. It was a dark, moonless night. We called mli ground for taxi and were told to taxi to runway 13. I had been to mli and taxied to runway 13 many times. I taxied to where I thought the parallel to runway 13 was. It turned out I missed the parallel taxiway and taxied on an intersecting taxiway. I discovered the mistake when I found myself on runway 13. I called ground and told him I had missed the taxiway and was on runway 13. He then cleared us to back taxi on runway 13 then cleared us to take off. My familiarity with the airport led me to be complacent, and the darkness contributed to me missing the intended taxiway. No matter how many times you've been to an airport, always check the map before you taxi.

Title: COMMUTER CARRIER CREW ENTERS RWY WITHOUT CLRNC AFTER BECOMING DISORIENTED DURING TAXI AT MLI.
Narrative: THE MLI TO ORD TRIP WAS OUR LAST LEG OF A MULTI-DAY TRIP. IT WAS A DARK, MOONLESS NIGHT. WE CALLED MLI GND FOR TAXI AND WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 13. I HAD BEEN TO MLI AND TAXIED TO RWY 13 MANY TIMES. I TAXIED TO WHERE I THOUGHT THE PARALLEL TO RWY 13 WAS. IT TURNED OUT I MISSED THE PARALLEL TXWY AND TAXIED ON AN INTERSECTING TXWY. I DISCOVERED THE MISTAKE WHEN I FOUND MYSELF ON RWY 13. I CALLED GND AND TOLD HIM I HAD MISSED THE TXWY AND WAS ON RWY 13. HE THEN CLRED US TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 13 THEN CLRED US TO TAKE OFF. MY FAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT LED ME TO BE COMPLACENT, AND THE DARKNESS CONTRIBUTED TO ME MISSING THE INTENDED TXWY. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU'VE BEEN TO AN ARPT, ALWAYS CHK THE MAP BEFORE YOU TAXI.
