Narrative:
Mkc, 5000 ft. During gear retraction, system 'a' quantity decreased rapidly to 2 - 2 1/2 gallons. Suspected possible hydraulic leak in gear area. Flew to dfw. Reviewed appropriate abnormal emergency procedures, declared emergency. Emergency equipment was standing by. Gear extension appeared to be normal with quantity returning to normal. Landing was normal. Canceled emergency. Taxied to gate.

Narrative: MKC, 5000 FT. DURING GEAR RETRACTION, SYS 'A' QUANTITY DECREASED RAPIDLY TO 2 - 2 1/2 GALLONS. SUSPECTED POSSIBLE HYD LEAK IN GEAR AREA. FLEW TO DFW.
