Narrative:
Side panel behind and forward of steering tiller had been repaired but stuck out so that when one grasped tiller and made right turn, fingers got wedged between tiller and side panel preventing further movement. Wrote it up and verbally briefed mechanic. Flew aircraft later that day and mechanic had signed off gripe as tiller moved freely. Someone may lose control of aircraft.

Title: A B727-200 WITH PLT'S RPT OF TILLER STEERING INTERFERENCE WITH A BROKEN SIDEWALL PANEL WAS CLRED WITH LOGBOOK SIGNOFF AS 'STEERING CHKS OK.'
Narrative: SIDE PANEL BEHIND AND FORWARD OF STEERING TILLER HAD BEEN REPAIRED BUT STUCK OUT SO THAT WHEN ONE GRASPED TILLER AND MADE R TURN, FINGERS GOT WEDGED BTWN TILLER AND SIDE PANEL PREVENTING FURTHER MOVEMENT. WROTE IT UP AND VERBALLY BRIEFED MECH. FLEW ACFT LATER THAT DAY AND MECH HAD SIGNED OFF GRIPE AS TILLER MOVED FREELY. SOMEONE MAY LOSE CTL OF ACFT.
