Narrative:
Approach cleared us for visual runway 24L at lax. During the final phase of approach, tower controller cleared us to land on runway 24R with no proper instructions ('switch to, or change your runway to...'). We landed on runway 24L. Approach admitted to their mistake and lack of communication with tower controller.
