Narrative:
The flight was from phl-tpa. Tpa approach control cleared us for a visual approach to runway 36L with a restr to remain at 2600 ft till north of mcdill airport. We were on a right downwind for runway 36L. Our base turn was north of mcdill. We started descending onto the localizer from 2600 ft. At about 2400 ft the tower controller told us to 'maintain 2600 ft till north and west of mcdill.' we climbed back to 2600 ft, went west of the localizer the reintercept from the west. We landed runway 36L without further confusion.

Title: FLC OF A B737-300 DSNDED BELOW ASSIGNED ALT INTO OVERLAPPING CLASS D AIRSPACE DURING A VISUAL APCH. THE TWR CTLR INTERVENED TO REMIND THE CREW OF ASSIGNED ALT TO WHICH THE RPTR RESPONDED TO IMMEDIATELY BY REGAINING ASSIGNED ALT.
Narrative: THE FLT WAS FROM PHL-TPA. TPA APCH CTL CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 36L WITH A RESTR TO REMAIN AT 2600 FT TILL N OF MCDILL ARPT. WE WERE ON A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 36L. OUR BASE TURN WAS N OF MCDILL. WE STARTED DSNDING ONTO THE LOC FROM 2600 FT. AT ABOUT 2400 FT THE TWR CTLR TOLD US TO 'MAINTAIN 2600 FT TILL N AND W OF MCDILL.' WE CLBED BACK TO 2600 FT, WENT W OF THE LOC THE REINTERCEPT FROM THE W. WE LANDED RWY 36L WITHOUT FURTHER CONFUSION.
