Narrative:

After landing on runway 35R at dfw we were holding short of runway 35C at taxiway Z. The visibility was about 2 NM and hold short operations were not in effect. Dfw tower cleared us to cross runway 35C without delay, traffic on 2 mi final. I applied power 40 N1 on both engines. As the aircraft began to move across the hold line, tower called and ordered us to stop and made a comment about not moving fast enough. I stopped the aircraft short of the runway, but over the hold line. The landing aircraft cleared the runway approximately 3/4 of the way down the runway. We crossed with no further incident. I judged the passenger, crew, and aircraft were in no danger, otherwise captain's emergency authority/authorized would have been exercised.
