Narrative:
We had just departed mco on our way to sdf. Departure control had us on a northwest vector. We had been cleared to climb to 14000 ft. Approaching 8000 ft in the climb we were given a vector to 350 degrees and told to watch for traffic in our 1 O'clock we could not initially see the traffic, but saw traffic on TCASII. When we rolled out of the turn on the 350 degree heading traffic was in our 12 O'clock position and about 1 mi. At this time we were climbing through 10000 ft and it became obvious that we would not have separation on this traffic TCASII gave us an RA to stop climb we leveled off as we obtained visual with the traffic. Traffic (single engine cessna) was sbound at 10500 ft we passed 500 ft below and 200-300 ft east of traffic. The first officer and I could not believe how departure control turned us directly into known traffic that way. Thank goodness for TCASII, as it was so hazy that day that without it, we would have collided.

Title: A DEPARTING B737 ON RADAR VECTORS RECEIVED A TCASII RA AND PASSED WITHIN 500 FT OF A CESSNA ACFT.
Narrative: WE HAD JUST DEPARTED MCO ON OUR WAY TO SDF. DEP CTL HAD US ON A NW VECTOR. WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO CLB TO 14000 FT. APCHING 8000 FT IN THE CLB WE WERE GIVEN A VECTOR TO 350 DEGS AND TOLD TO WATCH FOR TFC IN OUR 1 O'CLOCK WE COULD NOT INITIALLY SEE THE TFC, BUT SAW TFC ON TCASII. WHEN WE ROLLED OUT OF THE TURN ON THE 350 DEG HDG TFC WAS IN OUR 12 O'CLOCK POS AND ABOUT 1 MI. AT THIS TIME WE WERE CLBING THROUGH 10000 FT AND IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE SEPARATION ON THIS TFC TCASII GAVE US AN RA TO STOP CLB WE LEVELED OFF AS WE OBTAINED VISUAL WITH THE TFC. TFC (SINGLE ENG CESSNA) WAS SBOUND AT 10500 FT WE PASSED 500 FT BELOW AND 200-300 FT E OF TFC. THE FO AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW DEP CTL TURNED US DIRECTLY INTO KNOWN TFC THAT WAY.
