Narrative:
At FL290 in cruise flight and just past tys, hydraulic system #1 low pressure alert with chimes appeared on the MFDU along with a procedure. We checked the overhead panel and noticed the hydraulic system #1 pressure at 32 psi and hydraulic fluid system #1 decreasing. Fluid level finally reached zero. Accomplished procedure on MFDU and then the QRH. Declared an emergency with ZTL. Notified the 'a' flight attendant and had her prepare the cabin. Successful landing in clt.
