Narrative:

The following information is submitted per FAA request. After normal single engine taxi to runway 4, I started the right engine approximately 5 mins prior to takeoff. After receiving takeoff clearance from tower, first officer flying, the throttles were advanced for a rolling go. The left engine responded normally but the right engine did not reach full takeoff power. Uncertain as to whether balanced field takeoff could be maintained with the available power, I elected to reject the takeoff. Normal abort procedures were used with minimal braking for a slow speed abort. After clearing the active, I performed engine run-ups which checked normal. Checked brake temperatures and then did a normal takeoff.

Title: AN MD80 REJECTED A TKOF, AT LOW SPD, WHEN THE R ENG WAS SLOW TO SPOOL UP AT LGA.

Narrative: THE FOLLOWING INFO IS SUBMITTED PER FAA REQUEST. AFTER NORMAL SINGLE ENG TAXI TO RWY 4, I STARTED THE R ENG APPROX 5 MINS PRIOR TO TKOF. AFTER RECEIVING TKOF CLRNC FROM TWR, FO FLYING, THE THROTTLES WERE ADVANCED FOR A ROLLING GO. THE L ENG RESPONDED NORMALLY BUT THE R ENG DID NOT REACH FULL TKOF PWR. UNCERTAIN AS TO WHETHER BALANCED FIELD TKOF COULD BE MAINTAINED WITH THE AVAILABLE PWR, I ELECTED TO REJECT THE TKOF. NORMAL ABORT PROCS WERE USED WITH MINIMAL BRAKING FOR A SLOW SPD ABORT. AFTER CLRING THE ACTIVE, I PERFORMED ENG RUN-UPS WHICH CHKED NORMAL. CHKED BRAKE TEMPS AND THEN DID A NORMAL TKOF.
