Narrative:
ATC vectored and slowed us to 160 KTS for 6 NM for spacing behind a heavy. By 9 NM at 3000 ft on the ILS runway 17C, spacing was 4 1/2 NM and closing. We asked to slow, but were denied because of an air carrier with an emergency behind us on the approach. No relief. Go around requested and issued. Further extended vectors, and still on downwind. Reached reserve plus alternate. Diverted per flight plan to dal.
