Narrative:
We had departed holding and were proceeding to our alternate of pbi due to fuel. We were cleared direct to zbv BR55V pbi. We started towards zbv and then asked for direct pbi. The radios were very congested. We were close to zbv turning direct to pbi when the controller asked 'where are you going.' we answered direct pbi and the controller asked if we were declaring an emergency. We said no; but we are minimum fuel. He said to intercept BR55V direct pbi. We complied. We were then told to call a number upon landing; which we did.
