Narrative:
On takeoff roll at sat, runway 12R, at approximately 80-90 KTS, we got a warning with an amber tape on the #2 engine egt. I aborted the takeoff and went back to the gate to have maintenance check the engine and the brakes. We had no smoke according to tower and normal egt at idle. We had used maximum power for the weight and the temperature. After maintenance signed everything off, we then went out and used standard power and were able to take off without exceeding an amber limit. Were legal for standard power even though we initially used maximum power on the way to ord. I called dispatch and tulsa to inform them of the problem so they could take the aircraft OTS and check the engine out in more detail.
