Narrative:

First officer flying. Normal takeoff. First officer positive rate gear up. Captain retracted gear, waited for up indications. Captain noted red nose gear light (with handle in up position). As aircraft accelerated there was obvious additional drag. After 3 mins captain placed handle to off position (red light extinguished, green nose light on, nose gear down and locked). Captain decided to leave in position. Crew reviewed all operating procedures. Dispatch contacted. Dispatch called cun (on descent gear down all indications normal). Uneventful landing. Aircraft inspected on runway. Maintenance installed all gear pins. Taxied to gate, passenger deplaned without incident. Upon inspection maintenance found faulty electric uplock control. Maintenance jacked nose, cycled gear several times. Nose gear did retract, however, red light on (with handle up, identical indication). Maintenance believes faulty electric circuit. Uneventful ferry cun mia with gear extended. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a B727-200 and after the aircraft was ferried to mia air carrier maintenance reported the fix was replacement of the nose gear up lock sensor.
