Narrative:
Normal approach to runway 22L but the landing was definitely abnormal. The wind was reported as 300 degrees at 15 KTS, but seemed much stronger. Autobrakes were set to medium. (I do not routinely use them since most of our aircraft are not equipped.) failed to stop left drift and landed with slight crab to left of centerline. (Captain thought I got left edge of runway. I didn't think I was that far off centerline.) blew #1 and #6 tires on left main truck. Notified tower and stopped on runway. Center gear brakes locked for some reason which delayed movement off runway for almost 1 hour. Go around would have been prudent, however, for some reason I never recognized the landing as being that bad until after it happened. I was obviously not able to shift from the normal landing mode to go around without external stimulant. No one was injured which is small consolation to the ego. This should not have occurred!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: 2 TIRES ON L MAIN GEAR BLOW ON ACR ACFT LNDG. LOCKED BRAKES RESULTED IN ACFT REMAINING ON RWY FOR OVER 1 HR.
Narrative: NORMAL APCH TO RWY 22L BUT THE LNDG WAS DEFINITELY ABNORMAL. THE WIND WAS RPTED AS 300 DEGS AT 15 KTS, BUT SEEMED MUCH STRONGER. AUTOBRAKES WERE SET TO MEDIUM. (I DO NOT ROUTINELY USE THEM SINCE MOST OF OUR ACFT ARE NOT EQUIPPED.) FAILED TO STOP L DRIFT AND LANDED WITH SLIGHT CRAB TO L OF CTRLINE. (CAPT THOUGHT I GOT L EDGE OF RWY. I DIDN'T THINK I WAS THAT FAR OFF CTRLINE.) BLEW #1 AND #6 TIRES ON L MAIN TRUCK. NOTIFIED TWR AND STOPPED ON RWY. CTR GEAR BRAKES LOCKED FOR SOME REASON WHICH DELAYED MOVEMENT OFF RWY FOR ALMOST 1 HR. GAR WOULD HAVE BEEN PRUDENT, HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON I NEVER RECOGNIZED THE LNDG AS BEING THAT BAD UNTIL AFTER IT HAPPENED. I WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT ABLE TO SHIFT FROM THE NORMAL LNDG MODE TO GAR WITHOUT EXTERNAL STIMULANT. NO ONE WAS INJURED WHICH IS SMALL CONSOLATION TO THE EGO. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED!
