Narrative:
Line of WX 100 mi in front of us. Called new york on 5550 HF to request east deviation and altitude change. New york came back 'no' on both requests. We continued, but had to go east to avoid going directly through cell. I called new york to tell them I was declaring an emergency and turning east to avoid WX. We got back on course 30 mi south of champ.

Narrative: LINE OF WX 100 MI IN FRONT OF US. CALLED NEW YORK ON 5550 HF TO REQUEST E DEV AND ALT CHANGE. NEW YORK CAME BACK 'NO' ON BOTH REQUESTS. WE CONTINUED, BUT HAD TO GO E TO AVOID GOING DIRECTLY THROUGH CELL. I CALLED NEW YORK TO TELL THEM I WAS DECLARING AN EMER AND TURNING E TO AVOID WX. WE GOT BACK ON COURSE 30 MI S OF CHAMP.
