Narrative:
I was PIC of air carrier (an ATR42, #nxxzz) on apr/xa/99. We were descending into sju from antiqua. A large bang was heard followed by a yawing of the aircraft. (The autoplt was on MEL.) engine indications revealed that the #2 engine on ATR42 #nxxzz had failed. This was further backed up by the copilot. We went through our checklists and landed uneventfully at sju at XA30 local. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the engine was a P&west 120A and the power loss was caused by failure of the #6 and #7 bearings.
