Narrative:
Bos to lga. On route segment from bdl VOR 225 degree radial, 62 DME to valre intersection, then intercept dpk (deer park, ny) 338 degree radial, etc. Just before valre intersection, ATC advised we were 6 mi south of course (bdl 255 degree radial). We'd commenced our left turn to intercept the dpk 338 degree radial (approximately 90 degree intercept). Possibly our turn was early, coupled with strong northwest winds, wavering VOR/navigation radial indications, we were off. DME showed 4 mi, south of valre intersection (dpk 338 degree radial, 43 DME).
