Narrative:
Was notified that the FMC database was for a B737-700 series. Other than reduced thrust derate page was in -700 format -- nothing unusual noted. Onboard performance computer was used (it was in '500' mode). Company is concerned about crew that operated this aircraft with improper FMC series designation. Notified today of FMC database error. Probably should have caught FMC discrepancy, but received aircraft late and did not notice anything unusual until derate page selected just prior to takeoff.
