Narrative:

Aircraft was a B737-500. Software loaded into FMC at some previous date was version for B737-700. First officer noticed difference when programming CDU prior to takeoff. Both pilots thought that this new software was now being put in B737-300's and 500's. Onboard performance computer data (ie, speeds) was checked against CDU each leg with no noticeable differences.

Title: RPTS OF INCORRECT FMC PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION ON B737 ACFT.

Narrative: ACFT WAS A B737-500. SOFTWARE LOADED INTO FMC AT SOME PREVIOUS DATE WAS VERSION FOR B737-700. FO NOTICED DIFFERENCE WHEN PROGRAMMING CDU PRIOR TO TKOF. BOTH PLTS THOUGHT THAT THIS NEW SOFTWARE WAS NOW BEING PUT IN B737-300'S AND 500'S. ONBOARD PERFORMANCE COMPUTER DATA (IE, SPDS) WAS CHKED AGAINST CDU EACH LEG WITH NO NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCES.
