Narrative:
We were to level off at 17000 ft MSL on climb out. On the coastal 1 SID off of bdl, we encountered moderate to severe turbulence at about 16000 ft up. We ended up level at 17500 ft. We notified ATC of the deviation and reason.

Narrative: WE WERE TO LEVEL OFF AT 17000 FT MSL ON CLBOUT. ON THE COASTAL 1 SID OFF OF BDL, WE ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB AT ABOUT 16000 FT UP. WE ENDED UP LEVEL AT 17500 FT. WE NOTIFIED ATC OF THE DEV AND REASON.
