Narrative:
At cruise flight, FL370, #1 engine compressor stalled and overtemped. Engine failure checklist completed and engine shut down. Started descent to FL270 and turn off track. Reclred by ATC to sea via A331 at FL270. Declared emergency and made uneventful landing at sea.
