Narrative:
We were pushed back from gate xx at lax onto taxiway C abeam terminal facing eastbound. After push completed, we received a salute and a release from guidance. Next, we received taxi clearance from ground control. A B747-400 had moved onto gate xx and parked. After turning onto taxiway B, a flight attendant advised the cockpit that a passenger had observed our left wingtip come in contact with the B747's wingtip. We advised our passenger that we had struck another aircraft and that we would be proceeding to a maintenance area for inspection. The passenger were bussed to the terminal. We had an NTSB investigator on our jump seat as observer member of crew. He has offered to make a statement.
