Narrative:

Upon arrival at eug, an FAA inspector came into the cockpit and asked to see our smoke goggles. After the goggles were taken out of their pouches, the inspector noticed a small crack in the first officer's lens. He told us to 'write it up,' which we immediately did in addition to contacting our maintenance center by telephone. A more thorough preflight inspection might have discovered this small crack in the goggle. Additionally, it was noted by the inspector that this was the 32ND pair of goggles he inspected with a crack. He indicated a possible manufacturing defect that is showing up industry wide.
