Narrative:

Flying with low time first officer. First officer's leg. Tower cleared us for visual at 5000 ft MSL and 9 mi from airport. His speed was 240 KTS and had to slow down to put in flaps and gear. Aircraft properly configured to land 5 mi out and high (above GS) for runway 18R. Approach controller very busy and did not tell us to go to tower frequency. I was contemplating go around due to being high. First officer stated he could make it and he did make it on GS on 1 mi final. Due to distraction of first officer not planning his approach right, I forgot to go to tower and get landing clearance.
