Narrative:

Possible misunderstanding/readback of altitude cleared to on descent into las during arrival. We set 7000 ft into altitude warning window and confirmed this between crew members. Leaving 7800 ft, approach control queried us and reminded us to level at 8000 ft, our assigned altitude. I believe we were given an altitude change and airspeed change to 170 KTS. We may have heard '7000 ft' and not 8000 ft as the assigned altitude.
