Narrative:
Upon arrival at lax we were cleared to gate. I turned onto the lead-in line and [followed] the guideman's directions until he gave the stop signal. As I was applying the brakes to slow and stop, I felt the aircraft shudder. I thought it was most likely the brakes. I did not hear anything from anyone on the ground and did not see anything when I walked past. Supplemental information from acn 436867: no one informed us that we had in fact struck a piece of ground equipment.
