Narrative:
My crew and I were preflting our aircraft for our first leg of the day. The FAA appeared and announced that they would be performing a ramp check. During their inspection they discovered a hot wire bundle leading to one of the taxi lights. Company maintenance was summoned. The captain, mechanic and FAA agreed that the taxi light would be deferred as per our company MEL. The MEL action was to simply placard the taxi light switch inoperative. Once we completed the flight from ont to lax, maintenance would make the necessary repair. The leg proceeded normally from there, until takeoff. Once we were cleared for takeoff, the captain and I executed our respective flows and then the checklist. Unbeknownst to me he had inadvertently turned on the taxi light along with the other lights, during his flow, which was habit. Upon lng at lax, we were notified that the FAA inspectors at ont had observed the taxi light on during takeoff, that's when we realized our error.

Title: A MEDIUM TRANSPORT ON TKOF ROLL INADVERTENTLY SWITCHED ON A PREVIOUSLY DEFERRED AND PLACARDED TAXI LIGHT WHICH WAS OBSERVED BY THE FAA SAFETY INSPECTOR.
Narrative: MY CREW AND I WERE PREFLTING OUR ACFT FOR OUR FIRST LEG OF THE DAY. THE FAA APPEARED AND ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WOULD BE PERFORMING A RAMP CHK. DURING THEIR INSPECTION THEY DISCOVERED A HOT WIRE BUNDLE LEADING TO ONE OF THE TAXI LIGHTS. COMPANY MAINT WAS SUMMONED. THE CAPT, MECH AND FAA AGREED THAT THE TAXI LIGHT WOULD BE DEFERRED AS PER OUR COMPANY MEL. THE MEL ACTION WAS TO SIMPLY PLACARD THE TAXI LIGHT SWITCH INOP. ONCE WE COMPLETED THE FLT FROM ONT TO LAX, MAINT WOULD MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIR. THE LEG PROCEEDED NORMALLY FROM THERE, UNTIL TKOF. ONCE WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF, THE CAPT AND I EXECUTED OUR RESPECTIVE FLOWS AND THEN THE CHKLIST. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME HE HAD INADVERTENTLY TURNED ON THE TAXI LIGHT ALONG WITH THE OTHER LIGHTS, DURING HIS FLOW, WHICH WAS HABIT. UPON LNG AT LAX, WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THE FAA INSPECTORS AT ONT HAD OBSERVED THE TAXI LIGHT ON DURING TKOF, THAT'S WHEN WE REALIZED OUR ERROR.
