Narrative:
While waiting (holding short) of runway 13, ground controller told us (I heard) onto runway 13 and hold short and monitor tower. We did and told tower. They said 'next time let me know before you get onto the runway.' I told him what we were told and had a talk with them. The ATC supervisor told me watch next time. Next time, if there is an unusual clearance, I will question it. Last time I was there I was cleared for takeoff on ground frequency, so I thought they were doing the same. I should not assume. I will follow procedures.

Title: A C172 PLT TAXIED INTO POS WITHOUT CLRNC AT MKE.
Narrative: WHILE WAITING (HOLDING SHORT) OF RWY 13, GND CTLR TOLD US (I HEARD) ONTO RWY 13 AND HOLD SHORT AND MONITOR TWR. WE DID AND TOLD TWR. THEY SAID 'NEXT TIME LET ME KNOW BEFORE YOU GET ONTO THE RWY.' I TOLD HIM WHAT WE WERE TOLD AND HAD A TALK WITH THEM. THE ATC SUPVR TOLD ME WATCH NEXT TIME.
