Narrative:
While approaching schaumburg regional airport (06C), I accidentally violated ord class B airspace. The base of the ord class B airspace over 06C is 1900 ft MSL. While flying toward 06C at 1850 ft MSL, I momentarily and inadvertently reached an altitude of 2000 ft MSL, thus violating the base of ord's class B airspace. Turbulent conditions contributed to the inadvertent climb. As soon as I realized I had reached 2000 ft MSL, I immediately descended back to 1800 ft. The class B incursion lasted no more than a few seconds. I am very familiar with the ord class B airspace, as 06C is my home airport. Momentary inattn to my altimeter combined with turbulent conditions caused this accidental airspace incursion.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PA28 INADVERTENTLY INCURS CLASS B AIRSPACE AT ORD.
Narrative: WHILE APCHING SCHAUMBURG REGIONAL ARPT (06C), I ACCIDENTALLY VIOLATED ORD CLASS B AIRSPACE. THE BASE OF THE ORD CLASS B AIRSPACE OVER 06C IS 1900 FT MSL. WHILE FLYING TOWARD 06C AT 1850 FT MSL, I MOMENTARILY AND INADVERTENTLY REACHED AN ALT OF 2000 FT MSL, THUS VIOLATING THE BASE OF ORD'S CLASS B AIRSPACE. TURBULENT CONDITIONS CONTRIBUTED TO THE INADVERTENT CLB. AS SOON AS I REALIZED I HAD REACHED 2000 FT MSL, I IMMEDIATELY DSNDED BACK TO 1800 FT. THE CLASS B INCURSION LASTED NO MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS. I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE ORD CLASS B AIRSPACE, AS 06C IS MY HOME ARPT. MOMENTARY INATTN TO MY ALTIMETER COMBINED WITH TURBULENT CONDITIONS CAUSED THIS ACCIDENTAL AIRSPACE INCURSION.
