Narrative:
Tower cleared me to taxi into position and hold for immediate departure. I did so. Tower then cleared tail number 'abc for takeoff.' I responded tail number 'cbc cleared for takeoff.' since it was a single runway, I was the only one in position. After takeoff, tower responded that I wasn't supposed to takeoff. There was no 'abc' waiting to takeoff and ground control had to be corrected when I was cleared to taxi from tiedown earlier. I think the tower was talking to my plane and using the wrong tail number and was confused. Everything was done without compromising safety. I should have not assumed I was cleared for takeoff without getting corrected tail number from tower.

Title: AN SMA ACFT ANSWERS TO A WRONG CALL SIGN FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF CLRNC SINCE HE KNOWS THAT THE CALL WAS MEANT FOR HIM AT CRQ, CA.
Narrative: TWR CLRED ME TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD FOR IMMEDIATE DEP. I DID SO. TWR THEN CLRED TAIL NUMBER 'ABC FOR TKOF.' I RESPONDED TAIL NUMBER 'CBC CLRED FOR TKOF.' SINCE IT WAS A SINGLE RWY, I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN POS. AFTER TKOF, TWR RESPONDED THAT I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO TKOF. THERE WAS NO 'ABC' WAITING TO TKOF AND GND CTL HAD TO BE CORRECTED WHEN I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM TIEDOWN EARLIER. I THINK THE TWR WAS TALKING TO MY PLANE AND USING THE WRONG TAIL NUMBER AND WAS CONFUSED. EVERYTHING WAS DONE WITHOUT COMPROMISING SAFETY. I SHOULD HAVE NOT ASSUMED I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF WITHOUT GETTING CORRECTED TAIL NUMBER FROM TWR.
