VOR runway 24 approach to arb, level 1 & 2 rainshowers over field, turbulence, and crosswind 190 degrees at 12 KTS gusting to 18 KTS. Descended to 1420 ft MSL in turbulence. MDA 1460 ft MSL. Corrected to 1480-1500 ft MSL when tower advised 'metropolitan (dtw) approach advises to check your altitude, MDA is 1460 ft.' broke out at 0.1 mi prior to missed approach point, runway in sight, landed without incident.
