Narrative:
On apr/xa/99 I received a phone call after aircraft departure from station. The mechanic stated they installed a new oil service door, but was unable to complete the job, and they taped the door back in place as it came in. They asked me to update the deferred item so the next person does not install another new door -- just to install the hinges.

Title: A B727-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A DEFERRED ITEM PARTIALLY WORKED BUT NOT COMPLETED AND UPDATED TO CURRENT STATUS.
Narrative: ON APR/XA/99 I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL AFTER ACFT DEP FROM STATION. THE MECH STATED THEY INSTALLED A NEW OIL SVC DOOR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE JOB, AND THEY TAPED THE DOOR BACK IN PLACE AS IT CAME IN. THEY ASKED ME TO UPDATE THE DEFERRED ITEM SO THE NEXT PERSON DOES NOT INSTALL ANOTHER NEW DOOR -- JUST TO INSTALL THE HINGES.
