Narrative:
Approximately 28 NM northeast of stl, we got a TA while level at FL240. We had opposite direction traffic at 12 O'clock, 10 mi, 800 ft below and climbing. I called center about the traffic but don't know if they received the transmission. When the intruder was at about 5 mi we got a monitor vertical speed RA. At approximately 3 mi we got a descend RA and descended at about 2500 RPM. Center gave us a turn just as we saw the bizjet go by our right wing at about 1/4 mi. He appeared to be in a left turn away from us and slightly above us. We lost about 2000 ft during the maneuver then corrected back and informed center. I thought the descend RA came a little late and caused us to do a fairly hard pushover. However, I was certainly grateful for the TCASII. It did its job well. The first officer was flying and did an excellent job without hesitation in a time critical situation.

Title: FK100 FLC RESPONDS TO TCASII RA WHILE LEVEL AT FL240.
Narrative: APPROX 28 NM NE OF STL, WE GOT A TA WHILE LEVEL AT FL240. WE HAD OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK, 10 MI, 800 FT BELOW AND CLBING. I CALLED CTR ABOUT THE TFC BUT DON'T KNOW IF THEY RECEIVED THE XMISSION. WHEN THE INTRUDER WAS AT ABOUT 5 MI WE GOT A MONITOR VERT SPD RA. AT APPROX 3 MI WE GOT A DSND RA AND DSNDED AT ABOUT 2500 RPM. CTR GAVE US A TURN JUST AS WE SAW THE BIZJET GO BY OUR R WING AT ABOUT 1/4 MI. HE APPEARED TO BE IN A L TURN AWAY FROM US AND SLIGHTLY ABOVE US. WE LOST ABOUT 2000 FT DURING THE MANEUVER THEN CORRECTED BACK AND INFORMED CTR. I THOUGHT THE DSND RA CAME A LITTLE LATE AND CAUSED US TO DO A FAIRLY HARD PUSHOVER. HOWEVER, I WAS CERTAINLY GRATEFUL FOR THE TCASII. IT DID ITS JOB WELL. THE FO WAS FLYING AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB WITHOUT HESITATION IN A TIME CRITICAL SIT.
