Narrative:
Aircraft was cleared on route as noted on strip. The problem is that 'keane' is a different fix. There are 2 fixes with the same name with different spellings. The fix that he was cleared through was keinn. This is a feeder fix for cyvr arrs. The other fix, keane, is a fix on the approach at sdp. If one of these fixes isn't changed, not only does it cause confusion to the controller, but a pilot could put in the wrong spelling and end up in the ocean out of gas.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ARR ROUTING RECEIVED BY C550 ACFT TO CYYR CONTAINED AN INVALID FIX, WHICH WAS SIMILAR SOUNDING AS THE CORRECT FIX, BUT WAS SPELLED DIFFERENTLY.
