Narrative:
We arrived at the aircraft at XA00 for an XA20 departure. We had trouble getting a van to the airport. There were 3 FAA inspectors (1 operation, 2 maintenance) waiting for us when we arrived. They took up a lot of our time as well as increased our stress level astronomically. As the door was closing and the jetway pulling away I realized I hadn't done a preflight walkaround. As luck would have it, one of our mechanics called on the head set to say he needed to make a write-up in the logbook. We killed 2 birds with 1 stone. As he made his write-up, I did my walkaround. Moral of story: don't let FAA inspectors distract you from your duties.
