Narrative:
I was very busy. ZDC called to inquire about an aircraft X 10 mi north of their airspace. Since all of my traffic was arrs at low level, VFR's congregated around gso. I did not see or pay attention to this untagged target. I tried to figure out who he came from. I called rdu approach whose airspace the aircraft had come from. They said the aircraft had been handed off, to who they weren't sure. I don't recall taking the handoff. The aircraft's final requested altitude was FL180. The aircraft never entered any other airspace prior to being handed off and was never in contact with any other traffic in my airspace.
